Emma's Wedding in Wiltshire & Kingscote Barn Nr Stroud

An early start saw me heading down to Wiltshire to a gorgeous little village where Emma lives and was getting married. The ceremony was held at the village church and then they held the reception at Kingscote Barn

Clare Bryce was in charge of make-up, it's always good when Clare and I work together as we know what each other is thinking and work so well together making amazing bridal looks, tongue in cheek we are nicknamed .... 'The Dream Team!'

Adding to the trio of our 'Dream Team' was photographer Matt Davis, the eagle eyed readers out there will notice his logo in the corner of most of the photos on this blog entry, his photos are fantastic!

Emma wanted a very relaxed hair style for her wedding, having added a soft wave to the hair I took the sides back and wove the back together adding diamante clips

A side bun style was the order of the day for the bridesmaid I styled who, pictured above, looked fantastic in Midnight blue with a silver grey sash. Having styled the 2 girls I turned my attention to helping 'Mum' get ready, blow drying her hair before attaching and fixing the fascinator into place

2012 Wedding Industry Awards .. Winning hairdresser

A landmark occasion arrived this week when I attended The 2012 Wedding Industry Awards. Not only was I in awe of being invited to such a glamorous award ceremony but to attend as one of the winners was amazing! 'Officially crowned' (pun intended!) Best Bridal Hair Stylist (South West)

Heading down to the big smoke with me was my partner in crime Clare Bryce (Bridal Make up Specialist) regulars of The Fordham Hair Blog' will know that Clare and I work together on weddings as the 'Dream Team' for wedding make-overs!

Before the ceremony Clare had twisted my arm into styling her hair for her (her exact words were something like... ' you can't expect me to go to the award with a winning stylist without a winning hair do!!' )

As one of the UK's leading bridal hair stylists not only am I passionate about the hair but also the accessories that go into the style. I regularly source vintage pieces for clients of mine. So heading out on a hunt for a bit of vintage sparkle to add the finishing touch to a gorgeous side bun chignon, I found this diamond clip.

Vintage hair done we headed out to the ceremony but not before stopping in front of 'Eros' at Piccadilly Circus toi take true tourist photos of each other (it's not often our other halves let us leave The Cotswolds for 24 hours of freedom!)

The venue for the 'do' was the world famous Cafe De Paris in the heart of London's West End. This ultra glamorous club has played host to scores of famous celebrities over the years including Marlene Dietrich, Frank Sinatra and Grace Kelly to name but a few!

We had a great night as the awards were handed out on stage and the ceremony was expertly handled by Sky TV's presenter and royal correspondent Sarah Hewson. It was an amazing night of flowing champagne and meeting old friends and making new ones....here's to the 2013 Wedding Industry Awards!!

Guyers House Wedding Hair Stylist

Catching up with updating the wedding hair blog, today's post is from the beginning of December. People often ask which are the busiest months for me with bridal hairstyling, December 2011 certainly proved to be one of my busiest months!

I travelled down to Wiltshire to style Amy's wedding hair at the beautiful 'Guyers House' in Corsham, a lovely boutique hotel in a glorious secluded setting.

I started out with styling the bridesmaids hair, both bridesmaids had asked for a french roll style, a classical and timeless style which I then finished with antique cream roses individually pinned into place.

For Amy we went down the 'Classical' vintage path, there is a real movement in bridal styling towards more classical vintage hair styling, the shabby chic look is still very much in vogue but this more refined vintage look is becoming stronger. Think Downton Abbey, fur wraps, hand finished lace edging to dresses and veils, elegant Edwardian hair styling and you get the idea!

The last few moments of getting a bridal party ready for the ceremony very often ends in an 'all hands to the deck' moment, here Amy is being laced into her stunning gown whilst Clare Bryce (Pure Pampering Gloucester) applies a final sweep of gloss.

All finished and ready to go the bridesmaids looking fabulous in beautiful 'petrol blue' gowns.....

The Greenway Hotel Cheltenham Wedding Hair Styling

The Greenway Hotel and Spa was the venue for Carole's wedding in November. This is a truly gorgeous luxury hotel just outside the regency spa town Cheltenham.

Starting with the bridesmaids hair, I curled them both then styled one into a half up hairstyle with woven detail below the crown area and diamante finished hair pins.

The other bridesmaid went for a side bun hairstyle which looked ultra glamorous with a vintage diamond clip added for detail.

Carole chose a half up hairstyle which I took to one side to add interest and also I wove curls around each other at the back for more detail. A simple diamante hair band added the finishing touch to this stunning elegant bridal hairstyle.

Completing the look with a beautiful feather shrug, Carole looked stunning and ready for her winter wedding!

Thornbury Castle Wedding in October

I'm playing catch up with the blog at the moment. This year has been one of the busiest ever for Fordham Hair Design, I have travelled all over the place styling hair for some stunning weddings, counties and areas include ... Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Oxfordshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Wales!

So here is the first catch up Wedding from October ...

Abbie's wedding was at Thornbury Castle in Gloucestershire, this castle just oooozes with history, once owned by the Tudor royals you feel as if Henry VIII is going to walk around the corner any minute!

Abbie's bridesmaid went for an all down do that I created by using heated rollers to add body and volume

Abbie, went for a curled up do with a vintage feel, perfect for her stunning wedding dress with lace bolero jacket and perfect for the historic castle venue. I styled it with GHD's, curling the hair before pinning up and finishing it with fabric and bead tudor roses.

Clare from Pure Pampering was with me creating gorgeous bridal make up for the girls, we had a great morning helping them get ready and it was lovely to meet up with Sarah Cameron again who was photographing Abbie's wedding.

With the surge in period dramas over the last year or so we're finding that weddings are having even more vintage feel to them and in particular the 'Country House' styled weddings (think 'Downton Abbey' inspired hair!)

2011 has been an amazing year for me, I had an editorial feature of my wedding hair work published in a wedding magazine, won the award mentioned above, moved house to Stroud in the Cotswolds and even found time to have my own special day when my partner of 10 yrs and I had our civil partnership. ( I can now empathise with people organising a big day!) Thank you to all of my beautiful brides this year, I have loved every wedding!

2012 is going to be a good year, if you're getting married I'd love to be a part of your big day. I hope you all have a great time over the festive period.

Stroud Freelance and Mobile Hairdresser

It's been a very busy couple of months! For those of you that follow my blog and Facebook page on a regular basis you will know that I have just moved house and the 'Fordham Hair Design' HQ to the fabulous Cotswold town Stroud.

Settling into a new area can be tricky but also trying to settle the business into the new area means I have had lots of work! Never one to shy away from hard work I have been busy meeting new people and getting out and about around the Stroud and Five Valleys area. If you don't know Stroud you must come and visit, we have the best Farmers Market in the country and some unbelievably beautiful countryside.

I always discuss all the wedding hair styling that I do via this blog but sometimes I forget to tell readers on here that I also do 'normal' day to day hairdressing from cutting and colouring through to putting hair up for parties. I am very pleased to now bring my 5 star mobile hairdresser service to the Stroud area.

A few things have meant that this week I feel really proud to be part of the South West region, to live in this beautiful area and I'm excited to have my business here.

I was nominated for an award a couple of months ago and this week I was told that I have been shortlisted in the National 2012 Wedding Industry Awards for Best Wedding Hair Stylist in the South West. I'm so excited to have been involved in this awards and to come this far has been an honour, fingers crossed for the next stage!

The next thing to have happened this week was to have my work published in 'West Wedding Magazine'. Earlier this year I was contacted by the editor to create a photo shoot and editorial on how to re-create Kate Middleton's wedding hair. I'm very proud that this feature has appeared in this season's magazine...

Clearwell Castle ... Charlotte's Wedding

I had a really early 4am start again this morning to drive over to the Forest of Dean for wedding hair styling at Clearwell Castle. Today was Charlotte's wedding and I was styling the hair for her, 4 bridesmaids and Mother of the bride.

Clare from Pure Pampering was creating some stunning make up for the girls and together we styled most of the party at the small cottage adjacent to the castle where they had all stayed the night before. Once the bridal suite was ready in the castle we moved over there to finish the styling.

Here is a picture of one of the bridesmaids that I styled into a curled side up do. All the girls had silk rose hair accessories to finish the look.

Mother of the bride Jacki was super glamorous in this pale silver/lilac outfit with FABULOUS hat!

Charlotte's hair was styled into a classical half up curled style. I curled it by using heated rollers and also GHD (straighteners) I then inter wove the back of the hair to create detail. Once finished I pinned the tiara into place.

I loved this tiara, a stunningly simple classical tiara.

I also loved this bouquet, the colours were beautiful!

The girls (or 'Team Charlotte' as they preferred to be called!) all ready for the celebration to come.

The fantastic portcullis entrance way to the castle courtyard, a great entrance for guests to come through to a wedding.

Stanton House Swindon ... Wedding Hair Styling

Wedding hair styling normally means an early start but today involved a crazy alarm call of 4am!! I was styling hair for Julie's wedding at Stanton House Hotel near Swindon. I arrived whilst it was still dark and there were still stars in the sky....dedicated or what! :)

Stanton House is a beautiful Cotswold stone Manor house in the Wiltshire countryside. A really beautiful hotel in a stunning location, perfect for a wedding with a gorgeous parish church within the grounds.

I carried out a trial run for Julie and her 3 bridesmaids way back in May. Julie's hair was styled into this classical bridal curled updo, having curled it first I twisted the individual sections up onto the crown area and pinned. Once the pieces were all curled and pinned into entwining curls I fixed the crystal tiara band and veil into place.

Both of Julie's sisters were bridesmaids, I was set an amazing challenge to curl and style their hair which was almost waist length! They looked fantastic with the hair curled and pinned up and cascading over to the one side.

The third bridesmaid had a chignon side bun hair style, a truly classical and very now hair style for weddings!

Clare from Pure Pampering was creating the make up for the girls today, she arrived a couple of hours after I did at around 8am and set to work making the girls look stunning!

We left just as the girls were about to walk over to the church next to the hotel, guests were arriving and the incredible weather made it feel like a summer day!

Wedding Hair Styling at The Rectory Hotel Crudwell

I had a drive through the Cotswolds this morning to get to the lovely village of Crudwell in Wiltshire. Lucy was the bride I was styling hair for this morning and her wedding was being held at the beautiful Rectory Hotel. This is a lovely hotel with beautiful interiors and a lovely homely feel. It even had these wonderful floral pigs on the lawn!!

I was greeted by Lucy and her Mum as I arrived, the hotel is so relaxed that it feels like your own home ( a rather posh country retreat type home!! ) Setting up in one of the stunning bedrooms I soon started styling the hair for everyone. Lucy and her sister Katie both had heated rollers in their hair to add body and curl. I then styled Lucy's hair into this beautiful vintage style chignon ... Audrey Hepburn eat your heart out!

Katie's hair was styled into a deconstructed chignon to give a less formal look to the Lucy's look. I gave the hair a small amount of backcombing before smoothing it over and pinning the side up into a casual chignon with tendrils.

Lucy's Mum made the bouquets, button holes and this amazing wedding cake that she was icing half way through the morning..... an amazing lady!

Lucy had come up with a great idea for the table decorations. each table had a theme of a different author, there were books for that author and props for guests to dress up in! Above shows JKRowling with Harry Potter glasses and wands. Below is the Ian Fleming table with James Bond guns and bow ties! Such a fab idea...

Cheltenham Park Hotel - Rebecca's Wedding

Rebecca's wedding was being held today at the Cheltenham Chase Hotel. I arrived early to style her hair into a curled updo.

I curled Rebecca's hair with GHD's to add body and curl. I then pinned the hair into entwined curls at the back of the head. Once back combing had been applied to the top of the hair I used fixing spray to finish the style before attaching the beautiful silk rose headdress.

Birtsmorton Court Wedding Hair Styling

Well as wedding venues go I reckon that Birtsmorton Court has to be up there with the most romantic! Just look at that photo that Matt Davis took , it is just amazing with it's timber framed house and moat! This is where today's wedding was taking place for Sam and Duncan. I was styling the hair for Sam and her party of bridesmaids at Puckrup Hall though not Birtsmorton Court.

Now this picture (above) was taken by me on my IPhone (see you didn't know I was a secret photographer!) I have to admit I was pretty lucky as when I arrived it was pouring with rain, as soon as the rain stopped I jumped out of the car to take this picture and the sun came out and shone on the building right at that moment ...lucky eh!

The bridesmaids today had been looking on this blog and my main website for inspiration and loved the side bun hair styles that other bridesmaids had gone for. I styled their hair adding the gorgeous diamante clips that Sam had bought for them all.

For Sam's hair we went with a vintage inspired up do which I created with rollers, soft backcombing and plenty of grips! I always make sure that the styles are fixed VERY securely and even if they look soft and romantic they will stay put all day, every bride needs to feel totally confident that their hair will stay put all day

I love the way these diamante clips fix into the side of the buns so nicely and really adds a glamorous touch to these bridesmaids hairstyles.

Look what I found! Matt Davis (Photographer extraordinaire) taking photos of the brides shoes on the balcony outside the hotel suite, so I took a picture of him!! Have a look at Matt's blog, he is a fantastic photographer and he always seems to produce some amazing and very original photos of brides shoes!

Hair all styled and ready to head of to Birtsmorton Court for the wedding! Today's make up artist was Sophie Everett who I have worked with before, she made the girls look fabulous, the false eyelashes that she used were brilliant!

Manor By The Lake Wedding Hair Styling

Another journey over to Cheltenham today to style hair for Lisa's Wedding at the beautiful gothic Manor house 'Manor By The Lake'. I get lots of requests to style peoples hair for their wedding but this date 10th September was the most requested of the year, I had dozens of requests for just this date!

Lisa has really lovely hair which this style shows off perfectly, I curled it first before fixing it quite high and into the centre of the head to fall in a cascade, it actually makes the hair look much longer.

Once the hair was styled and fixed into place, diamante pins and a tiara finished the look and created the perfect fairy-tale bridal look!

Styling Lisa's Mum's hair (above) was really great! I was given the challenge of taming her naturally curly hair, she had the most AMAZING hair, incredibly thick and naturally curly...just beautiful! She had seen a few pictures on my Wedding Gallery of styles that she liked so we knew what to aim for. Doesn't she look amazing in her 'Hot Pink' outfit with matching fascinator!

In total I styled hair for 5 bridesmaids this morning, the cheekiest one is pictured above! (She made an amazing bacon sandwich!!)

Clare arrived as I was styling the girls hair to do the make up, it's great to work with such a professional yet friendly person. Regular readers of this blog will know that Clare and I work on LOTS of weddings together, we always have a fab time getting the bridal party ready.

Just look at the angelic face of the bridesmaid above, how cute is she?! Once all the girls had been styled they dashed off to get dressed and then help Lisa get into her dress before heading of to the wedding.

Saint Briavels Castle Wedding Hair styling

Fancy a fairytale castle for your wedding? Just take a look at this, the above picture is 12th Century St. Briavels Castle in the Forest of Dean, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a rural French Castle. Rose was getting married at the church opposite the castle and then having the celebrations and reception at the castle.

I curled and pinned the bridesmaids hair into half up bridal hair styles which I then positioned fresh roses into for the finished detail.

Rose has a bob hair style which she wanted to keep quite casual but still look bridal enough for the day. I gave it a soft wave and then pinned some pieces back before pinning individual Singapore orchids into it.

Clare www.purepampering.co.uk arrived half way through the morning to do Rose and her bridesmaids make up. All done the pic below shows the girls all ready for the day ahead!

Cheltenham Wedding Hair Zoe

I'm doing loads of wedding hair styling in Cheltenham at the moment and today was over there again to style Zoe's hair for her wedding later on in Berkley Gloucestershire.

I absolutely loved the colour of Zoe's hair, such an amazing red colour which her Mum also had and even the sitting room walls!!! This family like red! I styled Zoe's hair into a half up do with the back woven together for detail.

Zoe's bridesmaid had asked for and up do which was great to do with her naturally curly hair. I pinned the hair up to give the impression of lots of body and a casual bridal up do with french twist in the nape.

Sophie Chamings www.sophiechamings.co.uk was with me today to create the make up for the bridal party, they looked great!

Zoe had bought her dress from www.the-couture-company.co.uk at The Custard Factory in Birmingham, it was a bronze and gold dress which was beautiful and very different to the usual bridal dress. The above picture shows the headdress that the company made for Zoe to match her dress, it's fab isn't it!?

Zoe's Mum had a short pixie cut which I blow dried into place then used clay to define the spikes and add texture.

Bowden Hall Gloucestershire Hair styling

I had a short journey over to Bowden Hall in Upton Saint Leonards to style Jenna's wedding hair do.
The above picture is one that Jenna kindly sent through to me, I think you will agree that she looks amazing, very Audry Hepburn like.

Jenna wore this wonderful crystal tiara in her hair which I think is one of the nicest tiaras I've seen in a long time, very different with a great vintage feel.

Jenna had only got in touch with me at short notice and I was lucky enough to have been able to fit her into my crazy schedule! It has been an incredibly busy year so far with weddings, it is always lovely to be able to help someone out like this at short notice and when they look as fab as this well that is just the cherry on the cake!

Cheltenham Wedding Hair styling for Eve

Today was over to Cheltenham to style Eve's hair for her wedding. The above pic shows 2 of her bridesmaids with the great up do styles that I did for them. They were created by blow drying volumising lotion into the hair and then adding body by placing the hair around heated rods. Once the hair was volumised it was pinned into curls and spritzed into place before attaching the blue silk roses.

Great accessories, Eve has worn her signature perfume 'All about Eve' for years so it was very important to have it today. And those shoes!!! How fabulous are they!

I loved this shot of Eve's hair, curled with GHD's and heated rollers, the pinned up into a half up do. The rose is an oversized silk rose which I pinned into the hair before fixing the veil into place.

Hair Styling at Tortworth Court Wedding

I was at the beautiful location of Tortworth Court today to style Clare's hair for her wedding, this is a beautiful wedding venue in the Cotswolds near to Wooton Under Edge. Most of my blog entries are photographed by me but the photos here are from Clare's official (brilliant) photographer Johnny Hathaway

I styled Clare's hair into a stunning up do with some loose pieces framing the front, an ultra soft and glamorous bridal hair style, very romantic.

I curled her hair first with GHD's then pinned it into soft loose curls in the nape of the neck. I added some lift around the crown area and then pinned fresh flowers into the curls, the finishing touch was to add the beautiful veil.

I also styled the hair for the bridesmaids also pinning fresh flowers into their hair styles before leaving the girls to get ready for the big day.

Beechfield House Wiltshire Bridal Wedding Hair

I had the privilege of styling hair for a wedding at Beechfield House Hotel near to Chippenham and Bath. The hotel is a stunning privately owned luxury hotel in Wiltshire and offers a fantastic venue for a boutique wedding.

I was styling Michelle's hair for her wedding and I was very excited to create this style for her today. This style was made possible by using clip in hair extensions, Michelle hadn't got enough length or thickness to her hair to create this style but by using clip in extensions I was able to make it work.

Extensions are a brilliant way to have a style that wouldn't be possible with your own hair, they are relatively inexpensive to buy and as long as they are secured properly there is no way they can slip out and they are impossible to detect from your own natural hair. I love working with them and I'm creating lots of wedding hair styles with them at the moment.

Once I had curled Michelle's natural hair and fixed the extensions into place I then pinned the back into a chignon. Fixing the jewelled headband into place and adding a veil behind the crown and the style was complete.
Sophie Chamings was doing the make up for the bridal party today and they all looked amazing!

The above picture is Michelle's sister in law, it shows how shorter styles can still be styled in a glamorous way for a wedding. I used heated rollers around the crown area to give it lift and then took one side back and fixed clips with silk flowers on for decoration.

I also used clip in extensions on Michelle's Mum's hair to create this rolled up do that she asked for. This was a lovely style to do, it looked really elegant and with the feather fascinator pinned into place she looked every bit the glamorous mother of the bride!

Catherine's Wedding hair styling at Tortworth Court Gloucestershire

Catherine's wedding was held at the family church near to Tortworth Court in Gloucestershire and I was there early styling the hair for her and the bridesmaids at her parents cottage just down the road.
Catherine's sisters and good friend were her bridesmaids and they all had very different hair, the above picture is one of the bridesmaids that decided on having a side swept curled do.

After I had styled all the bridesmaids hair I arranged fresh roses into the style, fresh flowers are a great way to add detail to bridal hair styles.

Catherine's hair was curled with ceramic curling tongs to add body and waves to her beautiful hair. I then pinned it into place to form some lift around the crown area which complimented the crystal tiara beautifully.

The bridesmaids looked stunning in their 'pistachio and pink' dresses, it was lovely to see something a bit different and they certainly looked gorgeous!

Catherine and her glamorous Mum pictured above, ready and waiting for the vintage car to arrive and take them to the church, they all looked stunning, ready for the rest of the day's celebrations.

Clearwell Castle Wedding hair

What a fantastic morning for a wedding at this stunning location! I am always impressed by the entrance to Clearwell Castle, doesn't it look amazing, you can imagine a knight on horseback coming through this arch at any moment! Anyway...... today was Lauren's wedding and I had a great time along with make up artist Sarah Brock getting the girls ready for the big day.
All the girls had fresh flowers for their hair and it was lovely to create these styles and weave the fresh flowers through.
Most of the styles were formed by adding body to the hair with heated rollers, these really give the hair loads of body and shine, the above picture shows a beautiful french roll which was the curled up, the flowers sit in the crease of the french pleat beautifully.

Lauren (the bride) wanted a half up style which really suited her, once I had curled it with GHD's I pinned sections up and created some lift around the crown area and curled detail at the back.

Sarah Brock ( www.sarahbmakeup.co.uk ) was creating the make up for the girls today and she did an incredible job, they looked amazing. This is the second time that Sarah and I have worked together on a wedding and it was great to see her again today.

The back of Lauren's hair shows the curled detail and fresh flowers which I pinned in after.

Once I'd pinned the flowers into place I fixed the tiara and suddenly Lauren looked every bit the stunning bride!

The last one to receive my styling was small bridesmaid Megan. It's always difficult knowing what to do to a child's hair for a wedding, I think this style is great as it looks bridal and styled enough without making her look too grown up. I plaited the hair on either side and then finished it by twisting the ends into a bun / chignon and then fixing fresh flowers into the back.

The girls looked great and I left as they finished getting ready for their big day.

Sam's Wedding - Tetbury and Eastington Hall Gloucestershire

Today was an early start to drive down to a village just outside Bristol for Sam's bridal hair styling. I started by curling everyone's hair first with heated rollers before then creating the bridal styles.

Sam's look was an incredibly elegant curled up do that was very suited to the look she wanted for the day. The pictures here shows Clare ( Pure Pampering ) completing Sam's make up and the picture below then shows me attaching the veil, it always looks like a painful procedure!!

I loved this photo (above) we all said how stunning Sam looked, an incredible figure and she looked so beautiful in her amazing wedding gown.

The above picture is actually one that I took at the trial run a month or 2 before, it shows how intricate the detail was at the back, the curls look great looping around each other.

Sam's mum was next in the line up of people to be styled. She had great hair that suited a flicked blow dry to add volume, the result was a youthful mother of the bride, a really fresh look which was complimented perfectly by the lilac coloured fascinator.

Sam's bridesmaids all wanted to have side bun chignons, this photo shows them all once I'd finished styling them and they had changed into their stunning purple dresses.

The above picture shows one of the bridesmaids hairstyles in the side bun style which was created completely with clip in hair extensions. The hair was actually too short to do this style on it's own but by clipping in extensions I was able to create the same look as the others. Clip in extensions are perfect for adding volume and length when creating bridal up do's for weddings and I would defy anyone to know that this style wasn't done with just her own hair, the blend was so natural.

This last picture shows Sam's sister Jo, her hair had big bold flashes of blonde colour through it which actually worked brilliantly with this 'messy' bun up do.

Clare and I finished just as the vintage cars were arriving to take the girls off to the wedding at Tetbury church and reception at Eastington Hall near Stroud.

Rachel's Wedding at Kingscote Barn

Today was Rachel's wedding, she is one of the wedding coordinators for the stunning wedding venue Kingscote Barn in the Cotswolds near Tetbury and had decided to hold her own wedding reception at this beautiful venue. I style the hair for lots of the brides that have weddings at this fabulous venue so it was very flattering to have been asked by Rachel to style her hair.

I had created a beautiful up do for Rachel which really flattered her faceshape, dress and style of wedding.

I used heated rollers to add body and volume to the hair before styling it into an elegant up do with curls.
Clare from Pure Pampering was with me today, styling the make up for the girls with mineral make up she created a flawless natural look.

I was also styling the hair for the bridesmaids, setting their hair into heated rollers to create a soft natural bounce to the hair as they both wanted to keep their hair loose and natural looking.
Once I'd finished the styling I was able to take a few photos of Rachel as she was being fastened into her wedding dress.

Once Rachel was into her dress Clare and I were able to add the finishing touches, Clare touched up her lipstick whilst I added the final spritz of spray and fixed her veil, Rachel really did look spectacular!

I'm starting this blog entry with a photo of today's bride Angharad, in rollers!! It's not a lot of people that can still look glamorous whilst they have rollers in their hair but Angharad looked fabulous!

I had an unbelievably early start today, I was up at 4am to drive over to Wales to style the hair for Angharad and her bridesmaids. The wedding was held just outside Usk in Wales but the reception was being held at one of my favourite venues Kingscote Barn in Gloucestershire so the wedding had to be an early ceremony to allow travelling time over to Gloucestershire.

Once the heated rollers had done their magic I styled Angharad's hair into this ultra romantic up do. Finishing the look was a crystal tiara and veil.
Dressed and looking unbelievably stunning Angharad was ready for the rest of the day's celebrations.

For the bridesmaids I styled the hair into elegant curled up do's with these glamorous 'butterfly' feather clips added for detail.

Once the bridesmaids were all styled they disappeared to get changed and they emerged looking fabulous in gorgeous purple dresses.

Kingscote Barn near Tetbury Wedding Hair

One of my all time favourite wedding venues has to be Kingscote Barn near to the Cotswold town Tetbury.

The venue is simply stunning set in a hidden valley, secluded but easily accessible from most areas and you will find it hard to meet nicer members of staff!
The girls were staying in Spring Cottage which is one of the venues self catering cottages, it's a great place for the mornings preparations.

Both the mother of the bride and mother of the groom were very excited, I blow dried their hair and added lots of volume to withstand the stunning hats that they had chosen. Mother of the brides hat had even been spotted at the recent royal wedding!!

One of the bridesmaids had a short bob which we decided to give an elegant sleek feel to. The hair was blow dried, given body around the crown and then pearl gems added below.

This side bun chignon is a very elegant style that works well for bridal hair, it lasts brilliantly so work well with hair that would ordinarily drop out a style easily. It looks timeless!

For Katherine's hair I curled it and then styled it partly up with a detailed curl design below the crown.
The curls around the back gave a beautiful tousled feel to the look. These can be created in several ways but I used a combination of heated rollers and then finished the look by adding a few firmer curls with GHD's.

Clare Bryce from Pure Pampering was created stunning make up for Katherine, the Mums and bridesmaids.

The finishing touch for Katherine's hair was this detailed crystal comb, a very elegant touch to a simple hairstyle.

Cripps Barn Bibury

I had a long drive this morning down Chimney Farm Barns in Oxfordshire to style hair for Katherine's wedding. They had rented this trio of wonderful barns set next to a nature reserve which allowed everyone space to get ready and stay before the wedding which was held at Cripps Barn near Bibury

This bridesmaid style was a very simple style but also beautifully elegant. Braided from the hairline across to one side the rest of the hair was smoothed and straightened. Once the styling was completed I fixed the jewelled headband into place.

Sophie Chamings was with me again today to create the make up for the wedding party and as ever created some stunning looks.

For Katherine's hair I styled it into a curled half up do, she had borrowed a friend's tiara and I added some lift around the crown to compliment it. This style is a great style for someone with a bob length style, it looks elegant without being too formal.

I also styled a couple of the other bridesmaids including one of the younger bridesmaids who had this great asymmetrical hairstyle. Normally she wears it sleek and straight so I suggested that we curled it into random waves and left it quite tousled looking, it really looked fab!

Puckrup Hall Worcestershire

Styling this morning took place at Puckrup Hall near Tewkesbury, a lovely Hilton owned hotel.

I was styling hair for Megan and her bridesmaids, all with very different hair and the first one had asked to have a simple french braid. I plaited the hair in the traditional way but plaited from one side and swept the plait across the head to end on the other side and coming across one shoulder. Finishing touches were added by twisting spiral gems into the plait.

Megan's Aunt decided she wanted to have a very full up do, lots of body on the crown and styled with a tousled feel. I curled the hair and then after giving the hair back combing to add body I pinned it up and created a look that really looked great.

For Megan herself we had chosen an curled up do with a diamante clip added. Megan had LOTS of hair so it was really lovely to create this style, the curls were twisted around each other and pinned into place.

The other 2 bridesmaid went for curled styles, one was styled up and the other one was styled half up. I added spiral gems to both styles to add sparkle, these are great accessories to use for bridesmaids hair as they finish the style perfectly.

Berkley wedding

I was styling hair for Stephanie's wedding in Berkley today. Steph's sister had the most incredible hair which once curled and styled looked just amazing! I used small heated rollers to add the curl and styled it over to the one side.

Working alongside me this morning was make up artist Sophie Chamings, she made the girls look stunning!
Steph's hair wasn't long enough to create the side bun style that she wanted to have for her wedding so when we had a trial run a few months ago I suggested that we use clip in hair extensions.

Clip in extensions are a great way to add more body and length to your hair and they are perfect for bridal up styles.

The picture above shows the extensions clipped to a chair just after I had curled them and ready to be added to Steph's own hair.

Once added to Steph's hair you can see how they add more length and body, you could leave the hair at this point if you wanted a curled loose style.

By styling the hair and pinning it up into an elegant side bun Steph really did look like the perfect bride. The match between natural hair and extensions meant that you really wouldn't have known that all this hair wasn't just Steph's!

The elegant diamante clip added the perfect finishing touch to this elegant bridal style.

I like to think that my hairdressing is 'quite good' but I will admit that my photography isn't always the best so for the majority of this blog entry I have 'borrowed' some images from Matt Davis photographer extraordinaire! Matt is a fab guy and always takes amazing shots so when I knew he was doing the pics for Jo's wedding I knew I would get some good photos to show off my work! (Cheeky I know.... thanks Matt!!)

I was at Jo's home in Cirencester in the morning to style the hair and Clare from Pure Pampering was creating the make up before the wedding took place in the Manor House Moreton in Marsh.

Jo's bridesmaids were friends and her sister Rachel (second from right).

Rachel had also asked for a simple style so I styled it in a very similar way to Jo's hair by curling it with large rollers and pinning it simply into place and adding a curled detail below the crown area at the back.

Rachel Kingscote Barn Nr Tetbury

The weather wasn't great for Rachel's wedding today but spirits were high and nothing was going to stop this lot from having a great day!!

I was styling the hair for them all at Spring Cottage the beautiful self catering cottage at Kingscote Barn.
Styling bridesmaid Lisa's hair was great fun as she had relatively short hair but wanted an updo! I love a challenge and so once I'd curled the hair with GHD's I then pinned the hair up to the crown area and swept it up which creates the illusion of much longer hair having been pinned up.Both the Mother of bride and mother of groom were wearing great fascinators which I fixed into place once I'd blow dried their hair to give volume.

Rachel's hair was styled into an elegant bridal up do. I curled Rachel's hair by using heated rollers first then pinned it into intertwined curls with some backcombing around the crown area.

Once I'd finished the majority of the hairstyling Rachel walked over to the Tallet House which is the other accommodation at Kingscote Barn. These rooms are set next to the barn itself and are fantastic luxury styled rooms with ensuite bathrooms. Rachel wanted to finish getting ready in these rooms and put her dress on here so that she didn't have far to get to the barn because of the rain.

I went over with Rachel to finish the hair by fixing the pearl and diamond clip into the side of the hairstyle.

Barnsley House and Cripps Barn Wedding

Steph's wedding was to be held at Cripps Barn which is close to Bibury in the Cotswolds, Steph was staying and getting ready at the nearby stunning boutique hotel Barnsley House.

Normally on my blog I jump straight in and show you the hairstyles but I just had to show the accessories first! One of Steph's bridesmaids is a shoe and jewellery designer at the fashion house Alexander McQueen and so the bridesmaids were wearing these amazing navy shoes and Steph was wearing the white version, both shoes had fantastic sparkling gems on them and beautiful heart shaped peep toes.

Styling make up today with me was Sophie Chamings, it was great fun working together and the girls looked amazing after Sophie had worked her magic!For Steph's hair we had tried a couple of ideas at the trial run but Steph decided that she wanted to wear her hair loose and softly waved and I think she made the right choice. To add some detail to the style I took the sides loosely back to below the crown area and styled the hair in a lattice effect to give a nice finishing detail at the back. Steph had bought a cabochon pearl hair brooch to add the finishing touch.

I always love styling the hair for the Mum of the bride, it's always nice to give them some pampering and help them to look their most glamorous for the big day. Steph's mum had very strong beautiful hair which we decided to leave loose but to tame the hair with a soft curl and wave. Once I'd styled the hair I attached the fascinator which added the perfect finish.

The bridesmaids were next to be styled with a classical chignon style for one and a high ponytail with volume for the other.
Both girls had their hair styled with heated rollers to give body, shine and control to the hair.

It was a great morning styling the hair for all the girls in one of the stunning Barnsley House suites. I left them to finish getting ready for their short journey over to Cripps Barn.

Malvern Wedding Worcestershire

The weather was incredible for Laila's wedding in Malvern. The styling for Laila's hair was at her in laws home set at the foot of the famous Malvern Hills which looked amazing in the sunshine.

Laila asked for her hair to be styled into a stunning bridal up do with the curls entwined around each other to create height and fullness.

I put the hair into heated rollers first to give the hair plenty of body and lift but also to 'polish' the hair. By styling it with heated rollers it really does make the hair incredibly shiny and the style will last much longer too.

Once the hair had been brushed through after the heated rollers were taken out I then backcombed the hair to give it more lift. Then the process of forming the curls and pinning them into place begins. Once all the curls were finished the style needed the finishing touches of veil and diamante comb hair accessory.

Laila looked amazing with this bridal up do, a true English rose bride!

The bridesmaids and Mum were then styled. The bridesmaids all went for similar side bun chignon styles which I adapted slightly to each girl depending on their hair type etc.

The girls and Mum all happily posed for a picture under one of the gazebos in the garden , they were all so excited and looking forward to the wedding!

Lorraine's Wedding at Dumbleton Hall Worcestershire

A trip today over to Worcestershire to style Lorraine's hair for her wedding at Dumbleton Hall, a stunning 19th century Manor House with views across the vale of Evesham towards the Cotswolds.
Lorraine has the most beautiful fair hair which she was very keen to have styled in as natural way as possible. Lorraine wanted her hair to look like a more 'polished' version of her regular hair style. By blow drying the hair with ceramic brushes it gave the hair lots of body and smoothed the hair to banish any frizz giving a glossy smooth finish.

The bridesmaids wore beautiful rich purple empire line dresses.

This up do style for one of the bridesmaids was set onto heated rollers to give the hair body and curl. Then I twisted the back into a French roll pleat before twisting the top into curls. Finishing the hair with amethyst and diamond pins added the final sparkle!

The other bridesmaid had very long hair which I curled into an elegant half up do again pinning amethyst and diamond pins into the pinned curls.

Working alongside me was Sharon from Truly Gorgeous creating fantastic Make up for the girls, it was great to be working with Sharon as she's a great make up artist and really good fun to work with.

I had a longer journey driving down over to Wales to the beautiful town of Usk where Annette was getting married at the gorgeous Glen-Yr-Afon hotel.

The majority of brides aim to grow their hair for their weddings but Annette did the reverse and chopped her hair off and went for a great choppy style pixie cut.

With a short hair style it suited having an amazing headdress like the one that Annette bought from Clifton wedding jewellery designer Hermione Harbutt.

Hermione creates stunning award winning bridal jewellery and accessories which are often featured in national magazines. Annette had chosen the 'Vintage Jewelled Vine Headdress' which has pearl flowers, clusters and Swarovski crystals in tendrils on a headband.

I styled the hair by giving it loads of body and defining the textured feel of the haircut by using a clay style product to emphasise the feathered ends.

Annette's sister was one of the bridesmaids, by curling the hair with heated rollers we created a great side bun chignon which was complimented by a beautiful jewelled headdress.

The 2 younger bridesmaids had lovely jewelled headbands which worked well with their short haircuts.

As I was finishing the final touches Clare Bryce completed the final make up looks for the wedding party.

Jade's Herefordshire Wedding Ross On Wye

Jades wedding was held in Herefordshire just outside Ross on Wye and both Clare (PurePampering) and I were helping Jade and her bridesmaids get ready at The Chase Hotel in Ross.

Jade had chosen this stunning pearl headband for her hair, with incredibly thick long hair we just had to keep the hair down, it would have been such a shame to pin it up and hide it all!

I curled Jade's hair and then pinned some up to the crown area to add lift and body and then created some loose curls below the crown.

I had a marathon session getting the bridesmaids ready as they were all blessed with fabulous long hair. Most bridesmaids have an idea of what they want to have their hair like so checking with Jade and each girl I created some up do's and a couple of down styles.

This style above was inspired by a picture of Eva Longoria at a red carpet award. It's a great style for a bridesmaid as the loose textured updo is soft and young looking yet ultra glamorous!

This shows a variation of a half up do by pinning the hair over to one side so it falls over one shoulder. It gives a glamorous twist to the look and beautiful detail at the back.

I had to include this photograph just to show what lengths Clare will go to in helping a bride get ready! Not only is Clare a fantastic Make up artist she's also a great personal assistant to bride on the morning, here Clare is helping Jade get into her dress...I don't think I need say anymore!

So with all the girls styled and ready to go Clare and I left them to enjoy the rest of the day.

Claire's Wedding at Hanley Swan & Moreton in Marsh

A drive over to Hanley Swan in Worcestershire took me to Claire's family home to style her hair for her wedding. Claire was getting married in the church in Hanley Swan and then the reception was being held at the stunning Cotswold venue The Manor House Moreton in Marsh.

When styling bridal hair styles most of the time the hair has to be curled to add body to the hair even if the finished style is sleek and not a curly look. The way I do this is either with heated rollers or GHD stylers. Creating the bridesmaids hairstyles for Claire's wedding I put their hair into rollers and heated bendy rollers.

The above style is a great twist on the half up hairstyle, here the hair has been curled and lift added to the crown area, then the hair is taken over to one side and diamante pins place into the curls.

The other bridesmaids were curled and styled into side chignons, this style is incredibly popular with bridal styling as it's a really great classical style that is very popular with vintage inspired weddings.
Claire's hair was curled with GHD's to add a more defined curl and then backcombed around the crown area to give balance to her tiara.

Whilst I was styling Claire's hair her photographer David Purslow was snapping away and caught this picture of me pulling a daft face whilst I added the final details to Claire's hair! Claire and her sister all ready for the church but grabbing a quick glass of bubbly, Clare Bryce (PurePampering) created the make up looks for the girls and they looked stunning!

Kate and William Royal Wedding 2011

Today was the long awaited Royal Wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William. I have been waiting for so long to see what Kate would look like and how she would style her hair. I have been asked by so many people on my thoughts and predictions for Kate's Wedding hair and have written articles for fashion websites and a previous write up on my blog HERE Kate had chosen to wear her hair in the very classical and stunning half up half down bridal style.

Beautifully curled and with some fullness to the crown area the finished look was complimented beautifully by the Queen's 'Halo' tiara which was made by Cartier in 1936. This was loned to Kate by the Queen as her 'something borrowed'.This hair style is a true bridal classic and one I am often asked to create for brides. It is created by adding body to the hair with heated rollers or ghd stylers and then taking the hair back from the face and pinning it below the crown area.

I think we are certainly going to see vintage tiaras become fashionable again for bridal hair styles, there are some beautiful tiaras available on the internet and this tiara by bridal jewellery specialists 'Flo and Percy' would be a stunning tiara to replicate the Royal tiara. Kate also wore platinum and diamond pear shaped drop earings made by London Jewellers Robinson Pelham. These were Kate's wedding day gift from her parents.

I think all would agree that she looked simply stunning and will become the jewel in the Royal's Crown.

Cadbury House and Coombe Lodge Blagdon

Another Sunday wedding for me today, weekdays and Sundays are quickly becoming as popular for weddings as Saturdays. Jo was getting married at the beautiful manor Coombe Lodge at Blagdon in Somerset, a really beautiful location and fabulous venue for a dream wedding.

Jo and her bridesmaids had stayed at Cadbury House hotel near to Bristol and this was where I went to style there hair. Jo had decided to have a beautiful tousled curl chignon for her bridal hair style and the finished look was amazing.

Curling Jo's hair with GHD's added lots of body and curl, this makes the hair hold the style in for longer meaning you won't find the style looking flat halfway through your wedding day.

I added some body and lift around the crown area which always gives a more flattering shape for a bridal hairstyle. People can get scared if you mention the word 'backcombing' but if done properly and in a subtle way it looks stunning!Once I'd finished pinning the hair into place I placed the crystal and pearl clips on one side of the chignon, they added the perfect finish to this beautiful bridal hairstyle.

Jo had printed lots of images of bridal hairstyles from my website to let the bridesmaids decide on the style that they wanted. This is a great way to allow bridesmaids to decide on the look they want, The gallery of hairstyles on my website ( http://www.fhdmobile.co.uk/ ) has a couple of hundred photographs on it and it's very printer friendly so easy to print images.

Several of the girls decided on up do's with tousled curls and one had a half up half down style all finished with silk rose hair clips. I curled all the the bridesmaids hair with heated rollers which like Jo's hair added lots of body to make long lasting hairstyles.When pinning the hair into the curls I always make sure that hair grips are 'invisible' by hiding them within the style, hairgrips should never be obvious to anyone looking at your hairstyle, it might sound fussy but it is a small detail like this that will make your hairstyle look stunning.

It was an incredible day with the sun beating down and better than most summer days, Jo had really fallen lucky with the mini heatwave that we were experiencing! After adding final touches of hairspray to the girls finished styles I left the girls to finish getting ready before the cars arrived to take them to Coombe Lodge.

Eastwood Park Wedding

Today was Rachel's wedding at the Gloucestershire venue Eastwood Park. I drove down to Wooton Under Edge to style the hair for Rachel, her bridesmaids and Mum. It's interesting how many people think they should have long hair for their wedding but Rachel is proof that a bride can look stunning without having to spend a year growing their hair. I styled Rachel's hair into soft ringlets and then added volume to the crown area. By pinning sections from the side back and up it created a really elegant and fun bridal hairstyle. A beautiful crystal tiara added the perfect fiunishing touch. For Rachel's Mum I created a stunning french pleat using the ends of the hair to form a tousled effect around the crown.

Plaits have become incredibly popular and Rachel's sister had spotted a style I had created for someone at a previous wedding and fell in love with the look. A great vintage (with a twist) style is made by plaiting the hair around the head and forming the ends into a chignon side bun.

The other bridesmaid had requested a half up hairstyle, I decided to give the style a different edge by weaving the hair at the back, this gives a half up style that added interest at the back so that it isn't just a half up look.

Whilst I was creating the hairstyles Clare ( Pure Pampering ) was creating the make-up and they looked amazing!

Stella's Wedding at Priston Mill

Priston Mill is set in rolling countryside near to the historic city of Bath. A stunning venue that boasts 2 totally beautiful buildings available for weddings. The Watermill building dates back to 1720 and is surrounded by lawns and a stream that powers the waterwheel.

The Tythe Barn is dated to around 1700 and has beautiful exposed timbers and vaulted ceilings and is the larger of the 2 buildings.

Stella's ceremony was in Bristol where she lives and then the reception at Priston Mill. I arrived very early to style Stella's hair into a wonderful bridal updo.

Adding body and bounce to the hair first with GHD stylers I then created a french pleat (roll) at the nape of the neck. The ends of the hair were left loose around the crown area to add curled detail and softly curled hair around the front of the hairstyle to keep the style looking soft and romantic.

Stella had bought a beautiful silk headdress from Hong Kong and this added the perfect finishing touch to the side of the hairstyle.

It has been a very busy week having done 3 weddings plus 2 wedding trials over the last 3 days, I only style a certain amount of Sunday weddings per year and this was a lovely wedding to do.

Sarah's Wedding ... Kingscote Barn

It was a great morning driving over to the Cotswolds for Sarah's wedding at Kingscote Barn near Tetbury. Having styled Kate's hair for her wedding yesterday also here at Kingscote Barn this venue has become a firm favourite of mine. It's a beautiful converted barn which is reached down a long driveway set amongst rolling Gloucestershire countryside, a truly stunning location for a wedding. Sarah and her bridesmaids had stayed the evening before at 'Spring Cottage' which is the self catering cottage available for brides and family getting married at the barn.

Styling the bridesmaids hair by curling it first with heated rollers I styled one as a half up half down culred look and the other into a classical french pleat (roll) both were finished with small diamante pins to add sparkle and detail.

By styling Sarah's hair with GHD heated stylers I was able to create a stunning ringlet bridal hairstyle, a small amount of backcombing around the crown area added just enough lift and height to compliment the tiara that Sarh had chosen.

Not long after I arrived Clare ( Pure Pampering ) came to do the girls make up and it was a really great atmosphere as we worked together in the sitting room area of Spring Cottage with the love actually sound track playing on one of the girls iPods!

Once we had finished styling the bridesmaids and Sarah both Clare and I went back to her studio to do a run through for one of our June brides.

Kate's Wedding at Kingscote Barn Tetbury

My blog entries normally start with a beautiful picture of the venue the bride to be is getting married in but I just loved this picture of all the girls and Mum once I'd put heated rollers into their hair! Don't they look fab! Well maybe not yet in this picture but they were a happy bunch!

Bride to be Kate had decided on a classical curled updo for her big day and once I'd taken out the heated rollers I set to work curling the hair into loops and pinning it up, the curls looped around each other beautifully to form this classical bridal style. The finishing touch to the style were diamante pins that I placed next to each other to give the impression of one jewelled hairpiece.

All the bridesmaids wanted a similar look to each other which was the very popular vintage style side chignon. This is a really good style for a wedding day as it suits most hair types and there is no danger of it coming apart or curls dropping out. With most hairstyles needing to last 12 hours or so on a wedding day this one is just perfect.

It's always nice to give the Mum of the bride a little bit of extra pampering. For many Mum's it can be a time of nerves and wanting to look their best for the big day. Kate's Mum entered into the spirit with the girls and looked fabulous with a bit of bounce to her bobbed hairstyle. The perfect finishing touch was the red and black fascinator coloured to match the outfit that she would be wearing later for the big day.

The bridesmaids were wearing beautiful Olive green dresses for the day and they looked simply gorgeous.

Soft curls around the edge of the hairline can soften a hairstyle and make it less severe and a small amount of lift around the crown area gives the style a little bit of elegance and style which is perfect for a wedding day.

Diamante clips or combs are great for adding a finishing touch to the hairstyles for bridesmaids and they needn't cost a fortune. I will be posting a blog entry in the next couple of weeks showing different clips and combs for bridal hairstyles and where to buy them from so keep an eye out!

Once all the girls were styled I left them to finish their final preparations before they were driven to Kingscote Barn in the Cotswolds near Tetbury for the ceremony and reception.

Egypt Mill Nailsworth Wedding

The beautiful Cotswold town of Nailsworth was today's location for Cathy's wedding and the venue for the marriage and reception was the stunning Egypt Mill hotel. The Egypt mill is a beautiful converted mill with working watermill wheel inside the building. The hotel is reached across this bridge from the carpark to the main entrance.

Cathy had decided on an 'updo' for her wedding day hair and this style looked fantastic on her. Having applied heat protecting spray I set Cathy's hair with heated rollers to give it body and bounce.

To put the hair up I styled it over to the right hand side and rolled it into a chignon style bun. The left hand side was then twisted and folded over to create a boho feel.

Having pinned all the hair into place I then fixed the silk flower headdress into the side of the bun.

Cathy's bridesmaids both had the same twisted pleat style. I put their hair into heated rollers to add body before twisting and pinning the hair into very stylish french pleats. The finishing touches were small diamante gems which are on spiral twists, they add a real sparkle to bridal hairstyles.

Kate Middleton's Wedding Hair and Make-up

Now that Prince William and bride to be Kate Middleton have had their first royal engagement together all eyes are on what Kate will decide for her look on the wedding day.

Having been a Bridal Hair Specialist for many years I'm waiting with bated breath to see how the ultra gorgeous Kate will style her hair and of course I have my own views on how I think Kate should look for the big day.

Kate has stunning brunette hair that she loves to wear in a loose casual style, even for the official engagement photographs.

I think it would be great to see Kate wearing her hair up for the wedding in a softly curled 'up-do' with some volume around the crown to create a classical vintage look that is very popular at the moment. Large informal curls styled loosely into the nape of the neck would create a fabulous chignon very similar to how I styled Jennie's hair for her wedding in December.

Rumour has it that the Queen has offered Kate the use of Princess Diana's tiara for the wedding day and this would certainly add the perfect finishing touch to Kate's look.

Bridal make up artist Clare Bryce from Pure Pampering has also come up with her idea on how Kate should look on the big day and both our ideas have been featured on the London Fashion website 'LadyM Presents'

First wedding of the year at Clearwell Castle

Although I have done lots of trial runs for this years brides today was the first actual wedding of 2011.
Today's venue was 'Clearwell Castle' in the Forest of Dean, this is somewhere that is becoming a favourite of mine, a very popular venue that I am doing lots of wedding hair styling at.

Michelle was getting married today and I was styling hair for her and her bridesmaids.

First up was Michelle's sister Rosanne who had asked for a french plait hairstyle. I plaited the hair around the head to the nape where I combined the plaits to form a chignon. Finishing the hairstyle with jewels woven into the plaits either side.

Michelle had decided on a losely curled style for her wedding day, taken back to create a sleek look from the front.

At the back I curled the hair with GHD's which when finished I softened to create a full but softly curled effect. I wove the hair together around the crown area and the finishing touch was a stunning hair vine that I pinned into place and fanned out to work with the hairstyle.

Second bridesmaid Laura requested a simple curled hair do leaving the hair to fall naturally around the shoulders.

I curled Laura's hair with GHD's taking very small sections to create a fuller effect, it takes longer to do it this way but the results really do speak for themself! To finish the style I wove jewels into the curls to tie the look in with Rosanne.

I made my last final touches to the hairstyles making sure everyones hair was secure and left to allow the girls to get ready for their big day!!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Christmas is around the corner and I wanted to blog quickly to thank everyone for their support this year! It has been a brilliant year. I have met some amazing people this year, I have styled hair for over 50 weddings and had some fantastic wedding mornings with 'my' lovely brides. I have styled hair at some of the South West, Gloucestershire and Cotswold's finest wedding venues including Eastnor Castle, Clearwell Castle, Kingscote Barn, Cripps Barn and Barnsley House to name a but a few!

Bookings for next years weddings are already coming in thick and fast and Wedding availability is already starting to become limited, I'm VERY excited about the weddings I already have booked in for next year and some of the projects lined up.

Thanks must also go to Clare Bryce (Pure Pampering) who is the best bridal make up artist in the world! (In my humble opinion!) We have worked together on loads of weddings this year, had lots of fun and helped make lots of brides look FABULOUS!.... Here's to 2011!

Sandhurst Church / Cripps Barn Bibury

With the snow still firmly sitting on the ground I made a very careful journey to the village of Sandhurst this morning to style Jennie's hair for her wedding. Jennie was getting married at Sandhurst church before travelling over to Cripps Barn near Bibury for the reception and celebrations.

I started with putting Jennie and her sister Sandie's hair into heated rollers to give body and bounce to the hair before styling.

Sandie was bridesmaid for Jennie and we decided on a really elegant updo with fresh roses woven into the finished style.

Before styling Jennie's hair I blow dried her mum's hair and attached her fascinator, she looked very much the beautiful and elegant mother of the bride

Jennie wanted a look that enabled her to have her hair up but still to see lots of it loose around the nape of the neck so that it would be visable when viewed from the front. Having curled it I then split the hair into different sections and pinned it into curls loosely in the nape and folding into each other so that a very soft romantic updo was created. Once this was done I then wove fresh roses into the curls to finish the look.Clare ( Pure Pampering ) was creating the wedding make up for Jennie and the others today, I'm becoming VERY biased now having worked with Clare for over 2 years but she really is THE BEST wedding make up artist you could book!! She created simple but stunning looks for the girls today.

Having added the finishing touches to the girls styles and attached Jennie's veil I left them to finish getting ready. As I left the house the vintage car was ready and waiting to take the bride to the church.

Close Hotel Tetbury / Chavenage House Wedding Hair

The Main Cirencester to Tetbury Road reduced to a single track which we drove along at 20 mph

I was watching the weather forecasts praying that the snow would hold off but unfortunately the snow came down in bucket loads overnight! Clare (Pure Pampering ) and I had already worked out a plan if the weather was bad and had decided to travel together and set off at least 2 hours before we were needed with shovels and wellies in the car!! I picked Clare up at 8am and we arrived at The Close Hotel in Tetbury 2 hours later!! Normally the journey takes about 40-45 minutes! We were determined to not let Gill down on her big day, it was the worst weather I have EVER driven in and the police were telling people not to travel but it was worth it to see Gill looking gorgeous for her wedding.

Gill was staying at the beautiful Close Hotel in Tetbury then travelling to Amberley to get married and finally holding the reception at Chavenage House

Gill had requested a beautiful curled updo which suited her perfectly. I put her hair into hot rollers first to give it body and bounce and then twisted individual sections up to create this elegant bridal hair style.

I also styled hair for Gill's bridesmaid but I didn't get chance to take her photo! Clare created a really beautiful make up look for Gill.

With final finishing touches complete Clare and I set off on the slippery journey back to Gloucester feeling very pleased that we had not let down one of our brides despite the terrible weather!

Hatherley Manor / The Swan Bibury Wedding Hair

It was a cold start this morning but the weather had held off enough to make the journey safely to Hatherley Manor to style Rachel's hair for her wedding. She was getting ready at Hatherley Manor (Near Gloucester) but the wedding was held at the village of Sandhurst and the reception at The Swan Hotel in Bibury in the Cotswolds.I started by styling the bridesmaids hair into elegant updo's which were then adorned with really gorgeous fabric roses with delicate feathers. These matched the beautiful deep red dresses perfectly and looked very festive!Rachel's husband to be was very against her having her hair curled or put up but we reached a great compromise by giving the hair texture with GHD stylers so that it had some movement but not a defined curl. To compliment the jewelled headband that Rachel had chosen I gave the crown a small amount of body so that the band would sit snuggly and would be part of the style rather than just fitted afterwards.

Clare ( Pure Pampering ) arrived as I was finishing the bridesmaids hair to do their make up and Matt Davis (FAB photographer!) arrived to perform gymnastics whilst taking photos! (He does seem to bend over backwards to get the perfect shot!) The girls were great fun to be with and we had a really fab morning getting them ready for the day ahead, Clare and I left as the girls were helping Rachel into her dress!

Dormy House Hotel Broadway Bridal Hair

I travelled over to the beautiful Cotswold village of Broadway today to style Melissa's hair for her wedding at the stunning Dormy House Hotel. This is a fantastic wedding venue set in a beautiful part of the countryside just outside Broadway.Mel had chosen a great curled updo which suited her perfectly. I curled the hair first using hot rollers and then pinned individual curls up and around each other to create this intricate style.Once the stle was complete I attached the stunning pearl and crystal tiara that Mel had chosen and attached her veil to compliment the finished look. Clare (Pure Pampering) was with me today creating her trademark wedding make up styles, as usual she did an amazing job and they all looked great!

Mum in Law, Sally, had asked for a french pleat (french roll) updo, having curled the hair and twisted it into the roll pleat I then attached her fascinator which had a fab birdcage veil detail.

I also blow dried and styled Mum's hair for her and pinned her fascinator into place, she had flown over from Australia for the wedding and was noticing quite a difference in the temperature as we were slowly sliding into arctic weather conditions!!

Swan Hotel Bibury / Cripps Barn Wedding

Today was the first of 5 weddings that I have this December! It always a busy month with people getting ready for Christmas but with the additional weddings I'm rather flat out!!

I had a nice drive over to the gorgeous Cotswold village of Bibury to style hair for Jessica's wedding at Cripps Barn.
Jess had rented one of the cottages belonging to The Swan hotel Bibury. It was a beautifully designed cottage offering a great space for Jess and her bridesmaids to get ready for the wedding.I styled the 4 bridesmaids first, designing different chignon style hairdo's for the girls.The girls all had different diamante style clips including this fantastic butterfly clip, a really unusual and glamorous hair jewel.Jess and I decided on an intertwined side chignon style when we met earlier in the year for her trial run. She had gorgeous brunnette hair which was perfect for this style and she was very good in growing her fringe longer so that we could ensure it was softly clipped away from her face.Jess had chosen a beautiful vintage inspired hair clip, very glamorous! She had also decided to follow family traditon by wearing her Grandmother's veil which had also been worn by her Mum, Sister and Cousin at their weddings, it was a really beautiful vintage veil which her Mum sat sewing a comb onto minutes before I attached it to Jess's hairstyle.Jess had decided that she wanted very vibrant flowers for her wedding and we were all well impressed by the jewel coloured bouquets, they felt very festive

I added the last few hair pins and finishing touches before leaving the girls to get ready for a great day ahead.

Clearwell Castle Winter Wedding

I had an incredibly early start this morning as I had to get up at 5am to travel to Clearwell Castle in the Forest of Dean to style Kathryn's hair for her wedding.

Adding body with heated rollers and creating detail with GHD's to personalise the style I pinned Kathryn's hair into a very elegant bridal updo. To add the finishing touch to the hair I wove individual wired rose buds inbetween the curls ... stunning!

I was also styling the hair for the 4 bridesmaids. Chief bridesmaid Fearne had a gorgeous graduated bob which I blow dryed then twisted one side back into a roll adding a crystal comb to finish this very simple elegant style.

The other 3 bridesmaids all had long hair which I styled into elegant side chignons with diamante combs.The girls posed for official photos on the four poster bed in the bridal suite so standing by the side of the photographer I took a quick snap! I also styled Kathryn's Mum's hair, blow drying it to add lots of body so it would hold up once she removed her hat later on.

Double checking everyones hair do and adding final touches and a extra spritz of hairspray I left the girls to finish getting ready for the rest of the day....

Bowden Hall Wedding

I was styling Mary's hair this morning for her wedding, the ceremony was at Hardwicke church near Gloucester then the reception was held at the beautiful Bowden Hall hotel in Upton Saint Leonards.

Mary had beautiful hair and perfect for the look we chose as she had lots of luscious brunette hair which looked great in this curled bridal hairstyle.To create a soft look and extra detail, I twisted the sides of the hair into a rolled twist before finishing it at the back with detailed curls and securing with a diamante jewelled clip.Mary had also chosen a beautiful jewelled tiara which added a fantastic finish to the fairytale look! I also styled Mary's Mum's hair giving it a sleek elegant finish by styling it with heated rollers first to give it lots of body.

Tortworth Court Wedding Hair

Closer to home for this mornings wedding but still an early start, I arrived whilst it was only just getting light!
Fran's wedding was at the beautiful Tortworth Court in Gloucestershire, a fabuous luxury hotel created from a stately home.

Fran's hair was styled by using GHD's to curl the hair before backcombing the crown to give balance to the style. The finishing detail was a beautiful diamante headband.

The chief bridesmaid had a long bob which she was keen to have put up for the wedding, by curling the hair with GHD's first and backcombing the roots of the hair I was able to put the hair up and give the illusion of much longer hair.I then styled the hair for Fran's sister who was also a bridesmaid. I put heated rollers into her hair and the added finishing touches with GHD's to curl the finer pieces. By backcombing the crown it gave a great shape to the back area to pin the sides into.I then styled Fran's mum's hair with rollers to give it body and once styled I attached her fascinator for her.

Eastnor Castle Wedding Hair

I was at Eastnor Castle near Ledbury this morning styling Alison's hair for her wedding. Eastnor Castle is a fabulous venue for a wedding and offers exclusive use for the wedding party. I started the hair styling at a cottage down the road where the wedding party had stayed the night before then we moved over to the castle to finalise the styling.We were in the Castle's 'Tulip Room' for the styling, all of the interiors at the castle are beautiful and this room is no exception. Clare (Pure Pampering) joined me at this point to work her usual magic and created fabulous make-up for the girls.Alison had chosen an Alice in Wonderland theme for the wedding and the bridesmaids all had butterfly's woven into the finished hairstyles.Alison's hair was put into heated rollers to add body and curl then styled into a side ponytail with a raised crown area to compliment the headdress.

Clare and I finished our styling and left the girls to finish getting ready for their exciting day ahead.

Clearwell Castle Wedding Hair

My morning started at 5am today to drive over to the Forest of Dean to style Rebecca's hair for her wedding at Clearwell Castle. The entrance to the castle is through this rather impressive gate-house to be greeted by the north front of the castle. Rebecca and her bridesmaids were staying in 'Keepers Cottage' adjacent to the castle. This beautiful self contained cottage allows the bridal party to get ready in comfort before moving over to the castle later in the morning (it also has a beautiful pond and garden viewed from the upstairs window here)

All of Rebecca's bridesmaids had decided on elegant side bun chignons which were beautifully complimented by the headdress combs that Rebecca had chosen.Rebecca had decided on a beautiful half up hair do with ringlet curls and a gorgeous tiara. Rebecca's hair was so strong and thick that my GHD's went into hibernation mode twice whilst I was styling it! (To those of you who don't have GHD straighteners take it from me this shows how thick the hair was!) I had a great morning getting the girls ready and also Rebecca's Mum, it was a really great atmosphere and the girls were certainly full of high spirits for the rest of the day.

Wiltshire / Kingscote Barn Wedding

An amazing Autumnal start this morning, a cold morning but the most amazing clear sunny morning! I left Gloucester early to get down to Wiltshire to style Robyn's bridal hair for her wedding at Kingscote Barn near Tetbury. The girls were getting ready at a family friends beautiful home before driving over to Kingscote Barn.
I started by curling chief bridesmaid Liz's hair as she was having a half up do. Using heated rollers and curling rods Liz's hair was given loads of body, perfect for this look. The crown was backcombed to add lift and balance to the style and individual diamante gems were woven into the loose hair to add a real sparkle!Robyn had decided on an elegant tousled chignon with soft tendrils to create a great soft romantic wedding style.Once I'd curled the hair with GHD's to add body and bounce to the hair I then pinned the hair into the nape area of the neck. Once it had been fixed into place I attached Robyn's stunning headdress which gave the style a really elegant vintage touch.
To complete the look Robyn had chosen a beautiful lace edged veil ....

I also styled Robyn's Mum's hair and helped her fix her amazing hat, she looked the perfect Mother of the bride.

I finished and left as the girls were getting changed ready for their half hour journey over to Kingscote for the church ceremony followed by reception at Kingscote Barn ( a fantastic venue! )

Belmont Abbey / Homme House

I was really looking forward to doing Kathleen's bridal hair for her wedding in Herefordshire today. Kathleen was getting married at Belmont abbey in Hereford with a reception afterwards at the fantastic venue Homme House in the village of Much Marcle just outside Ledbury. Homme House is one of my all time favourite venues, Jocelyn and her team are superb and the house is just perfect for wedding receptions.

Kathleen and family had rented a beautiful converted barn near to Ross on Wye to stay in for the wedding preparations for the day. The view I took a photo of (above) was the incredible view from the upper window where I was styling hair and Sophie Chamings of Cheltenham was doing make up.Kathleen had decided on a side chignon and had hand made some beautiful pearl/crystal hair combs for the decoration, a very talented bride! Both Sophie and I were trying to convince her into making them to provide for future brides!I curled Kathleen's hair with GHD's first to add body and shine. The hair was then twisted and pinned into the side chignon on one side and a feature made of the twists on the other side, it gave the look a fab Boho-chic feel. I was also styling the hair for Kathleen's Mum and bridesmaid who both had great fascinator style headdresses to compliment their look. Both looks were created using heated rollers to create body and volume in the hair and finishing details were added with GHD's. It was a great morning at the barn getting the ladies ready for the big day and we were also entertained by Russell Lewis photographer who as ever was great company! I was reluctant to leave when I'd finished as I'd had such a great morning!

A drive into Worcestershire to Stone Manor today to style hair for Sharon's wedding, Stone Manor is a beautiful Tudor Manor House hotel which specialises in weddings.

Clare (Pure Pampering) was doing Sharon's make up for her today. As soon as we arrived Clare showed her true organisational skills by straight away helping Sharon with the seating plan as she was running behind!!

Clare is passionate about weddings and not only does stunning bridal make up but also has excellent bridal PA skills and can will happily arrange to book extra time to help brides with things like this or just to help the bride dress and finish her final preparations.Sharon's hair was a medium length bob, most people would think this would be impossible to create a bridal hair style with but not so. By curling the hair with GHD's first I then created lift and height around the crown area before pinning pieces up to give a half up hairstyle which complimented Sharon's beautiful headdress.Once I'd completed Sharon's hair I styled her Mum's hair and Clare added finishing touches to Sharon's make up.

Whatley Manor Wiltshire

A long drive this morning to get to the village of Luckington in Wiltshire where Julie was getting ready for her wedding. The venue for the wedding was to be Whatley Manor a beautifully restored Cotswold manor house.

I started by styling Julie's stepdaughter's hair. Lucy's hair was incredible, really strong thick hair which needed lots of taming but just perfect for this type of look. I put it into heated rollers to take out the frizz and add bounce. Once it was styled I pinned fresh rose buds into the back.

When Julie and I met for her trial I was so pleased that we chose this tousled romantic updo, it really suited Julie and is such an elegant bridal hair style.I firstly curled the hair with GHD's to add body and then wove the hair into entwined curls.Julie had also decided to have fresh rose buds in her hair, they worked perfectly with the entwined curls.

Whilst I was styling the hair, Clare (pure pampering) was transforming the ladies with her fantastic make-up skills! They all looked great!

Cripps Barn / New Inn

A very early start to this mornings wedding preparations as I was styling hair for Catherine and all 5 of her bridesmaids!! She was getting married at 'Cripps Barn' the fabulous Cotswold Barn wedding venue. As Cripps Barn doesn't have accommodation brides tend to either stay at nearby Barnsley House or The New Inn at Coln St. Aldwyn which is where Catherine stayed.

As I mentioned in a previous blog entry it is always nice to show brides that they don't need long hair to create a bridal hairstyle.

Catherine's hair is a long bob which most people would think would be too short to create the elegant look we came up with.

By curling the hair with GHD's and the twisting and pinning pieces into place I was able to create the illusion of much longer hair, with a stunning simple pearl headdress tiara fixed into place Catherine looked amazing!

Clare (Pure Pampering) was also there today creating beautiful make-up for the girls and Mum!

Once I'd also styled the 5 bridesmaids into various up do styles I added final touches to Catherine's hair before leaving her to enjoy her wedding!

Clearwell Castle Wedding

Hannah's wedding today was at Clearwell Castle in The Royal Forest of Dean. I have styled hair for several brides getting married here but I have always done the styling elsewhere and never been here. I was very excited to go here today and I wasn't disappointed!!

Recently voted as the Best Wedding Venue 2010 it really has got the edge and provides an amazingly romantic wedding location.

Hannah and here bridesmaids were staying in 'The Keepers Cottage' set by the side of the impressive castle walls so that they were ready nice and early for the wedding preparations.

Starting in the cottage I managed to put heated rollers into all the girls hair to give the hair body and bounce ready for the styling process. I was working with my good friend Clare Bryce (Pure Pampering) who was creating stunning make-up for the girls and both Clare and I were thrilled that Hannah's official photographer was Russell Lewis. (Both pictured above) Russell is one of the best photographers EVER!!

Halfway through the morning we were able to move over to the castle itself to finish getting ready. The bridal suite has a very impressive view of the courtyard below so we could watch all the guests arriving ready for the days celebrations. Hannah had arranged for some vintage MG sports cars to arrive and take the guys for a spin around the area before the wedding as a treat!

We decided to create chignon bun hairstyles for Hannah's bridesmaids, these are very classical styles that work well with most hair types and suit most people.

Once I'd styled both bridesmaids hair I wove individual pearl clips into the edge of the chignons to add extra detail.

I styled Hannah's mother's hair and attached her hat for her and I'm sure you'll agree she looked amazing!! An incredibly elegant mother of the bride!

Hannah had a short bob and I think she proved that a bride doesn't have to have long hair for her wedding day. By setting it with heated rollers I was able to pump loads of body into it and by finishing it off with the stunning pearl, crystal and diamante tiara Hannah looked fabulous!!

Dormy House / Mill Hay Country House Broadway

Heather's wedding today was at The Dormy House Broadway but she stayed the night before at the beautiful Mill Hay Country House also near Broadway. It was here that Heather was preparing for the day ahead and where I was to do the bridal hairstyling

Not only has Mill Hay got beautiful grounds but the entire ambience of this stunning home is peaceful, warm and very welcoming , the perfect place to get ready for a wedding!

Heather's hair is naturally curly which required taming to create this stunning half up hairstyle for her.

I curled the hair with GHD's then pinned it into place and fixed the tiara using the double fix method to ensure it stayed put all day!

We had a great morning with a great videographer capturing all the goings on and Heather's very talented bridesmaid who was creating the make-up for the entire wedding group that morning!

The Abbey Hotel, Great Malvern Worcestershire

I drove over to Malvern this morning to style Laura's hair for her wedding at The Abbey Hotel.
The Abbey stands grandly in the centre of Great Malvern and is a beautiful hotel both inside and out.

Laura had wanted to create a romantic curled half up hair style. Using heated rollers I created this curly tousled style which worked fantastically with Laura's hair.

Laura chose some really beautiful silk rose hair accessories to add the final finishing touch to the hairstyle.

Whilst I was styling Laura's hair Clare Bryce ( Pure Pampering ) was applying Laura's Mum's make up.Once she had finished I blow dried her hair and attached the fascinator as Clare did Laura's make up.

The Manor House ... Moreton in Marsh

Today I was styling bridal hair for Sarah's wedding at The Manor House Hotel in Moreton in Marsh. I was with Sarah and her bridesmaids all morning styling their hair ready for the wedding at lunchtime. It was such a great morning getting the girls ready in one of the hotels luxurious suites and I was even treated to the most wonderful champagne with them! I started with Charlie's hair, she was very keen to have a style that didn't look too 'done' and liked the idea of having a messy chignon side bun. Curling her hair with heated rollers I then pinned it into place and created a tousled 'messy' look which looked great!I finally added a finishing touch of a silk flower headdress in the same royal purple colour as the bridesmaids dresses.

Sarah's other bridesmaid had a medium length bob which I was keen to show could be styled into an 'updo'.

People don't always realise how you can create an updo bridal hairstyle with relatively short hair that most people would think was too short to put up. I curled the hair with GHD's and by backcombing the root area and pinning the hair in sections it gave the illusion of the hair being much longer and pinned into a great tousled updo.

Finally I styled Sarah's hair which was fantastic naturally curly and very thick hair. I used GHD's to smooth and tame the hair. Once this was done I curled the hair into intertwined curls creating a feature of curls at the back and soft tendrils at the front with a crossed over lattice detail at the sides.

Once the curls were all pinned into place I then pinned in the pearl hairpins which Sarah had made herself! She had also made jewellery for gifts to her bridesmaids! A very artistic and talented girl! Once I had finished all three girls the bridesmaids helped Sarah get into her stunning wedding dress which required the 2 bridesmaids to lace her in. Sarah looked amazing and the sun was out on this bank holiday wedding in the Cotswolds!

Upper Court Kemerton Wedding Hair

Today I was styling Abi's hair for her wedding at the stunning location of 'Upper Court Kemmerton' in the Cotswolds.The hair preparation for the bridal party was based in the stable cottage (pictured above) one of the luxury self catering cottages available at Upper court. Abi and her husband to be Chris were staying in Dovecote cottage, a romantic hideaway overlooking the lake.

I styled 6 peoples hair for the wedding including mum Kate, sister Alison, Mum in law Ruth, Grandma, Groom's sister and the bride herself!

I did a mixture of updos and blow drying and had a great morning getting the wedding party ready for the ceremony in the afternoon.

Abi's hair was styled up for her wedding and by curling the hair first I was able to create an elaborate intertwined style with diamante gems adding a great finishing touch.
Thankfully the weather held and it was sunny for Abi's wedding which was a relief after the last weeks torrential rain!

Charlton Kings Cheltenham Wedding

With wedding season in full swing I'm still doing Sunday weddings and today I was in Cheltenham at the very early time of 7.30am to style hair for Lucy's wedding in Charlton Kings.

I started with bridesmaid Laura who had amazing naturally curly hair, when I did the trial run for Lucy's hair a month or so back Laura decided to have a trial run aswell. We decided on a side chignon utilising the natural curl of the hair with the front sections tamed into soft ringlets with GHD's. Once it was all curled and pinned into place I attached the pearl and crystal comb headdress, Laura looked beautiful and it was great to work with such fantastic hair!

I was also styling the hair for both Mum and Mum in Law today. I blow dried them both whilst Lucy ran off to have some breakfast!

Lucy's hair was styled in a very classical barrel curled bridal updo. It was great to create such an elaborate updo, it takes a lot of curling, pinning and tweaking to get the hair to sit in the right place and stay all day but it is also very satisfying to see a bride look so fabulous!

Finishing the hair with diamante gems and a truly beautiful diamante tiara I left Lucy and her family to finish getting ready for the wedding.

To prove that I'm not ALWAYS working I wanted to post a picture of a visit to somewhere that I have worked several times and one of my FAVOURITE wedding venues in the Cotswolds. After I finished Lucy's hair I went to an open day at Barnsley House near Bibury to see the world famous gardens that were created by Rosemary Verey who helped Prince Charles with the design of his gardens at Highgrove near Tetbury. I am also thrilled to say that I have been invited on a tour of His Royal Highness's garden at Highgrove very soon which is an amazing privilege!!!

Beautiful Tetbury ... again!

I was back in Tetbury today having only been here on Tuesday to style hair for a wedding. Tetbury is a really lovely little market town and has some fabulous restaurants, boutique shops and gorgeous accomodation which makes it the perfect place to hold a wedding and spend a few days!

Today Karen was getting married at Kingscote Barn but was getting ready at 'The Ormond Hotel' in Long Street Tetbury in the very luxurious 'Stable Room'

Both bridesmaids had fabulous brunette hair which we decided to curl and style half up with diamante clips. They looked fantastic. I was working with Make-up artist Sophie Chamings on Tuesday's wedding here in Tetbury and had the pleasure of her company again today, she was doing a great job of the girls make-up!

When I did Karen's trial we tried the hair all up first but quickly agreed that it looked much better with some left down in a side swept style which complimented her stunning Sassi Holford dress beautifully!

Once curled and pinned into place I positioned and fixed Karen's silk flower headdress before adding finishing touches to the 2 bridesmaids.

Kingscote barn - Tetbury Wedding

I travelled to Tetbury this morning to style Audrey's hair for her wedding to Robin at nearby Kingscote Barn.
They had rented 'Number 18' a beautiful grade II listed Georgian townhouse on Tetbury's famous 'Gumstool Hill' and this is where I was preparing the wedding party for the wedding day.Audrey has the most amazing hair which she can almost sit on! With it being oriental hair it has different characteristics to European hair and the process of curling it takes longer.
Having curled it to add movement and body I then started the process of weaving it into a stunning side chignon. Once all the hair was fixed into place I positioned the fresh rose buds around the curls and fixed these into the style.

I was also styling the hair for Audrey's sister and close friend Lindsey. The look for both was to be slightly vintage wedding hair with a 40's - 50's feel.

Curling both girls hair first I then styled the hair into a vintage side swept roll with waves and then pinned fresh rose buds into the side roll to complete the look.

Once both girls were styled I then completed Audrey's look by fixing her veil into the hair using the double fix method to guarantee a secure hold all day
